The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and in the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries – developed and developing – in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests (source: https://sustainabledevelopment.un.org).

Young Focus and the SDGs
We believe it is important to contribute to these goals for a more sustainable and better world in 2030. A number of goals are already contained in the mission and vision of Young Focus. Young Focus believes that education is the most effective way to combat child poverty in the slums of Manila, the Philippines. By giving children and young people a good start in life, they can escape an inhuman existence; many of these youngsters contributing to household income by collecting waste. Good education leads to good jobs, and means that not only the young people themselves, but also their families emerge from poverty. This breaks the vicious circle and increases the prosperity and welfare of the poorest segments of society.

Our work contributes to several sustainable development goals, but our focus is on SDG goal 1 (no poverty), SDG goal 4 (quality education) and SDG goal 8 (decent work and economic growth).

As a company, are you also embracing the SDGs and do you want to contribute to a better world for 2030? You also can do this through helping us! Together we can take steps toward these vital goals…

Contributions can be done in different ways, for example, to concrete projects or the sponsorship of students. Please contact us and see how you can be involved: info@youngfocus.org
