Opportunities in the Philippines

The Student Center is where we run the local office and work among the students. The Young Focus Child Care project is where we help malnourished young children and giving teaching on hygiene, health and nutrition to the parents.

Both of these projects require a lot of commitment and work from our team in the Philippines. So there are enough opportunities for volunteers who would like to come and support us.

To put this in more concrete terms, this means we have place for volunteers who want to roll up their sleeves to get actively involved and have something to offer to the students and children from the squatter areas. Here are some examples or reasons why you can help us:

• You have a certain profession or skill which you can pass on to another and/or you can give workshops on your speciality
• You need somewhere to do your internship/ college or university field placement for a certain time, for example for social work, therapy, education, etc.
• You want to experience Community Development and learn more in your chosen field of studies
• You want to experience what it is like to work cross-culturally and to find out for yourself what it means to adapt to another culture

We can offer you a place where you will be working with a team of enthusiastic Filipinos who have a heart and passion to do what they can to help their people. Young Focus has a guest house to provide volunteers with accommodation nearby. Full accommodation (including food) costs 15 euros per day - if you are staying for a month or longer. A shorter period (of between one week and a month) costs 25 euros a day.

Internship/ college or university field placement

There are also opportunities within the Young Focus projects for students needing to do an internship/ field placement. Students from the service sector, social work, creative therapy, etc. are welcome. Professional colleagues can supervise the students during their internship.

Volunteers needed in Holland and elsewhere

The Young Focus team in Holland is made up of (part time) volunteers, and it is quite a challenge to handle all the work that comes their way in order to support the activities in the Philippines.
So Young Focus would like to strengthen the team, particularly with volunteers who see possibilities in their own surroundings - whether it is in Holland or elsewhere - of promoting the work of Young Focus in the Philippines.
