The Student Center is where Young Focus runs the local office and works with the students. The Young Focus Child Care Center is where malnourished babies and toddlers are taken care of and where staff give teaching on hygiene, health and nutrition to the parents.
As both projects are very demanding on the Filipino team, our organization has plenty of opportunities to help for volunteers from the Philippines, as well as from abroad.
To put this in more concrete terms, this means we have place for volunteers who would like to roll up their sleeves and get actively involved, who have something to offer to the young children and students from the squatter areas. Here are some examples of why and how you can help us:
- You have a certain profession, skill or talent which you can pass on to others and/ or you can give workshops on your specialty.
- You need somewhere to do your internship/ college or university field placement for a certain time, for example for social work, therapy, education, etc.
- You want to experience Community Development and learn more in your chosen field of study.
- (For those coming from abroad) You want to experience what is means to work in, live in and adapt to another culture.
- You have a real passion for the poor and you want to commit yourself and your talents to serving them and learning from them.
Young Focus can offer you a place where you will be working with a team of enthusiastic Filipinos who have a heart and passion for what they do. Young Focus has a furnished guesthouse for our volunteers. Full accommodation costs 15 euros per day and includes room and board, as well as internet connection.
And of course, we would appreciate it if you could do a bit of promotion/ fundraising for Young Focus, and use the opportunity to communicate what you are doing with your friends and family. Our projects in the Philippines are costly and any support is more than welcome!

The Young Focus team in the Netherlands is made up entirely of volunteers. They really have their work cut out for them.
